Introduction

Ayatsuri2D is a free, open-source editor for rigging 2D puppets in the Live2D style: you bring layered art, cut it into meshes, attach the meshes to deformers, drive the deformers with parameters, and the drawing moves like it was animated by hand.

It reads and writes moc3, the format VTube Studio and other Live2D runtimes load, so a model made or edited here works where your Cubism models already work.

Ayatsuri2D is a beta. Save often, keep backups of models you care about, and please report what breaks.

What it opens

File What happens
.psd, .kra A new model: folders become parts, layers become meshes.
.moc3, .model3.json A Cubism model with its textures, physics, display names, motions and expressions. moc3 3.0 to 5.3.
.aom Ayatsuri's own model file: everything in one file.

What it writes

  • .aom when you save.
  • A full moc3 bundle when you export (see Export to moc3).

Where things are

The rest of these docs follow the order you'd rig a model in:

  1. First launch and the interface
  2. Modeling: importing art, mesh editing, ArtPath, clipping, glue
  3. Rigging: deformers, the Deform Brush, parameters and keyforms, guide lines
  4. Motion: physics, animation, timelapse
  5. Export

If you'd rather follow along step by step, start with the tutorials.
