Temporary Deform Tool

The Temporary Deform Tool reshapes the selected meshes, or a selected warp deformer, with a box, a grid or a path laid over them, without making a deformer. The edit lands in the keyform the parameters sit on, as with every other edit. It doesn't work on rotation deformers.

Pick a method from Modeling > Temporary Deform Tool, or from Transform method in Tool Details while it is in use.

Box methods

Enlarge/Reduce, Rotation, Free Transform, Perspective and Distort put a box around the selection, with red control points and an anchor in the centre. Drag a control point to deform. The anchor is the centre for Rotation and Enlarge/Reduce.

Temporary Warp Deformation

Lays a grid over the selection. Number of warp divisions in Tool Details sets its columns and rows (1 to 20, 3 by 3 by default). Drag the grid's points.

Temporary Path Deformation

Click to add control points along the art; click on the path to insert one, Alt+click to delete one. Drag a point and the art follows the path.

Dragging

drag deform
Ctrl+drag move the control point only
Shift+drag move straight: horizontally, vertically or at 45°
Shift with Rotation snap to 15° steps

Each drag is one undo step. Edits need the parameters on a key; between keys nothing changes.

Letting go

The green check at the top left of the view (Deselect the Temporary Deform Tool), Unbind in Tool Details, the same item in the menu or Esc ends it. While it is in use the Part and Deformer palettes are greyed out, and it lets go by itself if the parameters or the model change.

Shortcuts

Each method and the deselect have a shortcut in Settings > Keyboard under Modeling. They are Not set by default, as in Cubism.
